BriefCase LLC
This Cookie and Browser Storage Policy explains how BriefCase LLC ("Company," "we," "us," and "our") uses cookies, browser storage, first-party analytics events, and similar technologies when you visit https://www.mybriefcase.io or a shared BriefCase link. It explains what these technologies are and why we use them.
In some cases these technologies collect personal information, or information that may become personal information if combined with other information.
First-Party Analytics on Shared BriefCase Links
When a registered BriefCase user shares a custom, public, group, forwarded, or feedback link with a recipient, BriefCase uses first-party analytics events, browser storage such as localStorage and sessionStorage, device/browser signals, and server-side IP-derived approximate location. These technologies are used to:
- Identify and distinguish unique visitors to a shared BriefCase link
- Detect return visits from the same device or browser
- Track session duration, section engagement, link and button clicks, file previews, file downloads, and feedback activity
- Generate an engagement score based on the visitor's behavior
- Associate behavioral data with any personally identifiable information provided by the BriefCase user who created the link, such as the recipient's name, email address, or employer
This data is collected as part of the BriefCase service and is made available to the registered BriefCase user who created or shared the link. BriefCase does not sell this data to third parties and does not use third-party advertising trackers on recipient pages.
BriefCase honors Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals on shared BriefCase and feedback links. When GPC is detected, BriefCase suppresses behavioral recipient analytics, fingerprint, IP address, and approximate location enrichment. For more information about how this data is collected, used, and stored, please review our Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.
Group Links and Forwarded Links
BriefCase users may create group links intended for multiple recipients simultaneously, or share individual links that recipients may forward to additional third parties. In both cases, BriefCase's first-party analytics and browser storage technologies may apply to individuals who access the link, regardless of whether they were the originally intended recipient or received the link through forwarding.
Specifically:
- Group link recipients — all individuals who access a group link are tracked individually, with separate behavioral analytics collected per unique device or browser session
- Forwarded link recipients — if an original recipient forwards a BriefCase link to another party, BriefCase will detect the change in device or browser and collect behavioral analytics on the new recipient as well. BriefCase's forwarding gate may prompt the new recipient to identify themselves before accessing the shared content
- Chain forwarding — BriefCase tracking applies to all downstream recipients regardless of how many times a link has been forwarded from its original recipient
All data collected from group link recipients and forwarded link recipients is made available to the registered BriefCase user who originally created and shared the link, subject to GPC suppression and recipient data rights described in our Privacy Policy.
Cookies, Browser Storage, and AI-Powered Features
BriefCase uses cookies, browser storage, and session data to support AI-based features including resume tailoring, cover letter generation, profile summaries, and conversational AI. When you interact with AI-powered features, relevant profile data and user-provided inputs may be transmitted to our AI service provider, Anthropic Claude, for processing.
Engagement Scoring and Behavioral Profiling
BriefCase uses first-party analytics and similar technologies to construct an engagement score for each visitor to a shared BriefCase link. This score is derived from a combination of behavioral signals collected during one or more sessions, including but not limited to time on page, sections viewed, clicks, downloads, Ask AI usage, feedback activity, and return visit frequency. Recipients may request access to, correction of, or deletion of recipient analytics data by visiting https://mybriefcase.io/contact and selecting Recipient Data Removal Request, or by emailing us at privacy@mybriefcase.io.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website owners in order to make their websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.
Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, BriefCase LLC) are called "first-party cookies." Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called "third-party cookies." Third-party cookies enable third-party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website (e.g., advertising, interactive content, and analytics). The parties that set these third-party cookies can recognize your computer both when it visits the website in question and also when it visits certain other websites.
Why do we use cookies?
We use cookies, browser storage, and similar technologies for several reasons. Some are required for technical reasons, such as authentication, security, preferences, and basic site operation. Others support first-party product analytics, including recipient analytics on shared BriefCase links. BriefCase does not use third-party advertising trackers on recipient pages.
How can I control cookies and browser storage?
Most browsers allow you to remove or block cookies and site data, including browser storage. Blocking or clearing site data may affect authentication, preferences, analytics continuity, return visit detection, forwarded-link handling, and other functionality.
Recipients may also request access to, correction of, or deletion of recipient analytics data by visiting https://mybriefcase.io/contact and selecting Recipient Data Removal Request, or by emailing privacy@mybriefcase.io.
How can I control cookies on my browser?
As the means by which you can refuse cookies through your web browser controls vary from browser to browser, you should visit your browser's help menu for more information. The following is information about how to manage cookies on the most popular browsers:
In addition, most advertising networks offer you a way to opt out of targeted advertising. If you would like to find out more information, please visit:

What about other tracking technologies, like web beacons?
Cookies are not the only way to recognize or track visitors to a website. We may use other, similar technologies from time to time, like web beacons (sometimes called "tracking pixels" or "clear gifs"). These are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier that enables us to recognize when someone has visited our Website or opened an email including them. This allows us, for example, to monitor the traffic patterns of users from one page within a website to another, to deliver or communicate with cookies, to understand whether you have come to the website from an online advertisement displayed on a third-party website, to improve site performance, and to measure the success of email marketing campaigns. In many instances, these technologies are reliant on cookies to function properly, and so declining cookies will impair their functioning.
Do you use Flash cookies or Local Shared Objects?
Websites may also use so-called "Flash Cookies" (also known as Local Shared Objects or "LSOs") to, among other things, collect and store information about your use of our services, fraud prevention, and for other site operations.
If you do not want Flash Cookies stored on your computer, you can adjust the settings of your Flash player to block Flash Cookies storage using the tools contained in the Website Storage Settings Panel. You can also control Flash Cookies by going to the Global Storage Settings Panel and following the instructions.
Please note that setting the Flash Player to restrict or limit acceptance of Flash Cookies may reduce or impede the functionality of some Flash applications, including, potentially, Flash applications used in connection with our services or online content.
Do you serve targeted advertising?
BriefCase does not use third-party advertising trackers on recipient pages. If advertising or third-party marketing technologies are used elsewhere on the Website in the future, we will update this policy to describe those technologies.
How often will you update this Cookie Policy?
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Please therefore revisit this Cookie Policy regularly to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies.
The date at the top of this Cookie Policy indicates when it was last updated.
